Princess Louise, widow of the 9th Duke of Argyll, dies in Kensington on December 31 at the age of 91, the longest living child of Queen Victoria.

- End of an active Communal Tenancy.
Auchindrain is the very last township to give up a working communal tenancy, once the most common way of holding and working land in Scotland.
The last three tenants assign their shares to Edward (Eddie) McCallum.
Eddie retained the Joint Tenancy to the very end, as witnessed by the document returning the land back to the Duke
