Research Notes: from John McCallum Thornhill, Ontario, Canada
I was told by my distant cousin and a direct descendant of Iver and Christian that " after his second marriage he anglicized his name from Iver to Edward and changed the spelling to MacCallum - apparently whereas his first family spoke gaelic, the second spoke only English."
Iver apparently comes from old Norse but the web site (link following) gives Edward as a variant.
